Looking Back At Everything That Happened in 2024 | Life Changing Tiny House Build

From finishing an affordable Tiny Tiny house trailer to saving $27k in rent with the Slacker 27 Special to acquiring a team and planning more builds for 2025, Slacker Scott has had a wild year.

January

Towards the end of January 2024, Slacker Scott was accepted into the YouTube partner program. While it’s only been a few dollars here and there, it’s very excited and feels like the beginning to more growth!

March

Scott began his most recent tiny house build, the affectionately named Tiny Tiny, spurred into being because polyamory in a tiny house can be challenging. He and his partner wanted some extra space while still being close, thus the Tiny Tiny was born.

The intent behind the build was affordability & accessibility without sacrificing function. Built on a 4x8 harbor freight trailer, Scott took a lot of experimental liberty with materials and design. We want to offer safe, functional & comfortable tiny house designs that fit anyone’s budget, so we’re always experimenting to find the best options.

April

In April, a small business that specializes in strip lights and trim pieces for tiny houses reached out to Scott about doing a collaboration. In near perfect timing, Scott was able to install the lighting in time for his 32nd birthday party. Karaoke themed, of course! While the lighting was incredible, it was also an incredible test of the Slacker 27 Special’s capabilities. 16 people were able to comfortably enjoy the celebration, so enjoy this proof that living tiny doesn’t mean sacrificing the ability to entertain.

May

Zoning laws always make their way into the tiny living conversation, and in May, Scott’s landlord ran into a few issues. Scott wasn’t sure if he’d have to find another place to park his home. Thankfully, it all got resolved pretty seamlessly. We have a lot to say about zoning! Follow us so you don’t miss out.

June

In June Scott’s polycule put an offer down on a piece of property, but the offer didn’t go through. It was an exciting start to conversations about intentional living communities and what the future can hold.

July

In July, Tiny Home Tours came out and did a feature on the Slacker 27 Special.

“It was really cool to have such a huge channel come out and show (the build) to a whole other set of people.” - Scott

August

In August, Scott moved the Tiny Tiny, putting to test the strength of a new experimental build. While his weight calculations were within the scope of the trailer, he tried a bunch of new things including building all over the sides of the trailer. All trepidation was put to rest when the Tiny Tiny moved with ease!

September

This month was very exciting, as Scott got to start working with his first ever Tiny House client.

October

Scott hit a personal goal! Benefits of owning your home show up in many ways. One of them is saving on rent! In October, the amount of money Scott saved in rent surpassed his investment in his tiny house build. In just three years, he hit this milestone! November

Upgrades! Living tiny doesn’t mean sacrificing life’s creature comforts. Scott added a hot tub and a washing machine to his tiny living experience. Definitely leveling up in quality of life! Scott wasn’t the only one leveling up his tiny living experience. Also this month, he surprised his partner for her birthday, replacing the sofa in her Tiny Tiny with a piano.

Yes, she loved it.

And yes, it fits perfectly.

It’s been an incredible year of growth for Scott and the Slacker Scott brand turned business. There’s now a team of us helping grow this business! (Hi, Jordan here, writing this post. You’ll meet me more later, I promise.) Scott is very grateful for the community he has built on his YouTube channel, and the whole team is very excited for the growth to come in 2025.
